Sisterhood
Sisterhoods and individual members are at the core of WRJ. Today, WRJ supports hundreds of sisterhoods and members throughout North America, Israel, and the world.
Sisterhoods—often referred to as “women's groups”—are groups of active and engaged women who belong to a Reform Jewish congregation and work together toward a common cause. They are an outlet for the vibrant energy, creativity, and passion of Reform Jewish women, a social hub, and an integral part of any congregation.
WRJ also welcomes women who don’t have access to a congregation or a sisterhood. They can join WRJ’s community as an individual member and benefit from our sisterhood, spirituality, and social justice opportunities.
WRJ supports those who lead and are involved in our sisterhoods and provides a global network through which they can leverage their resources to advance their shared values.
WRJ Heartland District launches in 2023
On April 29th, 2022, WRJ’s North American Board approved the consolidation of the Central and Midwest Districts. The new Heartland District became effective at its first convention on March 9-12, 2023 in Itasca, IL.
Heartland incorporated the existing geographic areas in the Central and Midwest Districts: Named the “Heartland District,” its geographic areas consist of the following states:
